AS block as similar autocad block

AS block as similar autocad block

Hi everyone

it will be nice to add a possibility to create a function in AS to add a block system as autocad do ?

as the user joint system but with no need profil base, just insert point.

as the macro system but will not be just assembly function, and entire set of beam or plate independant of the others object.

It could be great to make only one assembly "block" it and after copy it anywhere it's needed and if there is a modification only do in one and other set automatically.

Now we can use the block command from autocad, but there is some bug as said in my post below (don't show correct quantities and impossibility to create drawing without explode the block).

I made a post on the forum, if you want more information:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/advance-steel-forum/possibility-to-create-a-block-of-beams/td-p/71051...

Thanks

AntDrt,

Very good idea, we need this almost every day, if I could vote 100 times I would  do so...

In my opinion this is the biggest thing that advanced steel is lacking. Special parts in advance steel are 80% there but absolutely need the following alterations to them to become an efficient tool.

1. Assemblies and sub assemblies should be made possible and should be edited as you would a "block" in auto CAD.

2. These "block "assemblies should be attachable to beams/sections similar to the way a macro joint works, so if the beam is moved then the sub assemblies moves with it.

3.Any holes in these assembles should allow bolts /anchors to be intelligently linked, so that if the hole is moved in the assembly the bolt moves too.

4. The "block" assembly itself and all parts WITHIN the "block"assembly should be included when producing details and BOM's.

5.Modifications to the the "block" assembly should update accordingly in drawings. At the moment special parts have to be moved at their base point in the model first before the drawings realise there has been a change.

6.It should be made possible to create these "block" assemblies within one another, so the same sub "block" assembly could occur within several other main "block" assemblies. E.g a standard plate which is to be used on several different balusters. There would be several of each different type of each baluster and the same sub assembly plate would be in each one and by going in to and modifying the sub assembly plate it would there fore modify all of the balusters.
