All Advance Steel Objects in 2D dwgs to be AutoCad Objects

Hello,

This my sound a little bit radical, but is it possible to have all Advance Steel Objects in 2D dwgs to be AutoCad Objects?

This will improve angular dimensions, sloped dimensions, all dimensions in general, it will allow for some "power dimensions" as well.

It will incorporate all that Autocad has to offer to work with lines, arcs etc. created by Advance Steel.

THIS WILL ALLOW US TO CHANGE THE PROPERTIES OF ADVANCE STEEL OBJECTS DIRECTLY FROM THE AUTOCAD PROPERTIES.

It will allow us to convert arcs and lines into polylines.

It will improve the overall workflow not having the limitations of objects being Advance Steel objects.

Regards.

It's possible to generate a completely dumb drawing (I've done this myself, there's other third-party tools which do this, and I've also set up ProStructures this way).  However, there would be trade-offs: some things would not be possible to automate and would have to be created manually; the results would lose any kind of update or bi-directional capability with the model; and the end user would be responsible for conforming to drawing standards for layers, etc.  Would those be acceptable for everyone, at least as an optional setting?

While it loses the "Swiss Army knife" appeal of vanilla AutoCAD there are benefits to those custom objects.  With built in behavior they do what they are designed to do, and don't do what they shouldn't be doing.  That helps to enforce standards both on the drawing level and in creating and updating the software.  As a very basic example, a manually placed block label could be placed on layer 0, DEFPOINTS, or any other layer, and it would be up to the end user to ensure everything is correct.  A custom label could be built such that it can only exist on the designated layer, and can only refer to a specific feature.
