Advance Steel Xref 3D Model Ordinate Dims

Advance Steel Xref 3D Model Ordinate Dims

When using the Advance Steel 3D model as an xref into another dwg, a regular GA AutoCAD dwg for example, the regular AutoCAD ordinate dimension won’t put the correct origin and dim scale on Advance Steel objects.

The ordinate dimension works just fine on other AutoCAD objects from other xrefs.

This issue has been carried over across several versions, from 2019 to 2022.

There are several work-arounds to get the dimension to read correctly, but it would be more advantageous to have the ordinate dims to work with the Advance Steel 3D objects from the get go.

Upon further investigation, the issue happens even when using all the typical AutoCAD dimensions (linear, aligned, radius).

Dimension properties have to have the dimscale linear option changed under the primary units to match the viewport scale, or match properties from a known good dimension.

Installed Advance Steel 2023 today to see if the ordinate dimension issue still exists.

Sure enough, in 2023, the issue is still there.
