Suppressing Ext. Line in Parametric Dimensions

Hello to all,

I hope this message finds everyone well.

I am running into an issue with suppressing the extension line of parametric dimensions.

After creating a new dimension style and going into the modifications, I am suppressing a line to have one be invisible and the other to appear. Please see below image for reference:

After going into my drawing (in this case, a GA Plan drawing), I try to place parametric dimensions and notice that both extension lines are suppressed.

When I use the regular dimensions, only one dimension line is suppressed and this is working correctly. It seems to only be an issue for parametric dimensions. I have also attached two images below for reference:

You can see in the left image, these are parametric dimensions. The defined points are shown at grid line intersections on the top left and bottom right, as well as the column. Both extension lines are not being shown.

However, in the right image, these are the regular dimensions. The correct extension line is not being shown.

Could anyone please provide some insight on this? Maybe this does not work for parametric dimensions at all but not too sure.

Thank you all for your time.

Hi @michael_desrochers97 ,

I can confirm from my experience that AutoCAD dimensions can always be controlled reliably via dimension style.

Unfortunately, this cannot be said about Advance Steel pamametric dimensions (basically proxy objects using (somehow) Autocad dimension style information). These are controlled via dimension styles from AutoCAD, but very unreliable. I noticed a difference if the Autocad dimension style was created/edited in pure AutoCAD or in Advance Steel, when subsequently used in Advance Steel. I have no explanation for this behavior in Advance Steel, just experience.

A similar problem exists, for example, with the height of the dimension text. In AutoCAD this can be easily changed in the Properties Palette. When you need to change that for Advance Steel, you must have more text styles defined with different text heigth and you must use these directly in dimension style. Otherwise, change is not possible. Highly (un)productive and (un)logical.

+++ impossible immediately and miracles within 3 days +++
+++ the only constant is the change +++ stay tuned for more +++
+++ since 03/2023 is Advance Steel in maintenance mode, no further development +++
