SQL Server Database connection problems

We have tried when we have the time to attempt it, to connect our workstations to a central server database.

I have read all the posts dealing with this and tried all the suggestion including:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/advance-steel/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Ad...

Our instance is: ADVANCESTEEL

The full name of the instance is : SBS\ADVANCESTEEL

We are connected successfully through ODBC tool on server and from network PC:

Server: sbs.a1.local – Windows SBS2011 / Server2008r2

SQL Express 2014 SP2

Named pipe info: \\SBS\pipe\MSSQL$ADVANCESTEEL\

TCP/IP: SBS\ADVANCESTEEL

Network Path to File Share: \\sbs\Graitec Databases\AS2019

The Configuration file is attached.

Can anybody help to see where we have gone wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

in the first view your configuration xml is coerrect.

But this is not so easy to analyse the issue from far away.

One questin did you check you fire wall ports, it´s important to have open ports like discriped like in this ADSK link:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/install/configure-the-windows-firewall-to-allow-sql-...

Yes, we have created inbound and outbound rules for the 1433 port, and just to be safe, we also did that for the corresponding firewalls on the workstations.

User loggins have also been added, the folder has been shared (this is the same folder we have used for shared databases prior to SQL, so we know that is not the issue).

The databases have been attached to the instance, yet we get the error:

"12/10/2018 1:52:59 PM: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The remote computer refused the network connection.)"

HI,

if the ports are open and the folders have all reading and writing rights I can unfortunately not help. If you have a connection error to the server, this could probably due to a setting in SQL Server. In this case an IT specialist have to take a look on SQL settings.
