Scribing Lines on Step File

Hi, I would like to create single part step file for laser cutting from my advanced steel model.

below is an example of RHS single part we have already had cut which were all fine.

However my next phase I need to show scribing lines on these parts.

I am using the advanced steel powerpack to export as single parts but I cant see a way to show the scribing marks.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

the only way to do this is a NC1 file.   The STEP file just has information about the material shape, not anything that is added to it.  Ex weld marks, scribe marks ect.

Thanks for your reply Steve. I have been asked specifically for STEP not NC I have attached the example I need replicate.

At first I tried adding these myself in fusion after exporting the STEP file from advanced steel but this was really long winded.

instead I am doing a partial contour cut in advanced steel of the scribing marks I need which is the test 1 attached.

this is still not the fastest process so still trying to come up with something.

Can those who ask you to provide this type of file give you a concrete example?
I often have subcontractors who ask me for a lot of things in STEP, but when I explain that it would be better to switch to NC/IFC/some other format rather than a simple 3D solid (since the information they expect isn't managed in a STEP), they never manage to provide me with a specific example.

So, I tell them that I'm not used to working in STEP either, and they end up adapting.

Hi Orasquier, the attached 'ETCH EXAMPLE' is what they have provided. We have used NC files with partial scribing on this job for a previous phase. The issue is the scribing of the diagonal lines from what I've been told the CNC Machine they use cannot scribe them. only a partial scribe works.

So this next Phase is being Laser Cut instead which uses a STEP FILE. I sent them over the 'test 1' STEP which they seem happy with now.

My first attempt was NC. What other formats would you suggest I try that show the full scribe marks?

I'm not that clued up on this topic and just working around what I'm being told.

Suppose only positive is at least I have some control over what is being scribed with the contour cut, some of the scribe marks on the NC Files I created were not the best😅

In management tool it is possible to do partial scribing

Otherwise the complete model in DWG 3D, using the powerpack or by exploding the AS parts (save as of course 😉 )
