     Hello,

I want to to use unique names for all my assemblies. I have already fulfilled this names in User attribute 10. And I want to use this user attribute to name the assemblies. Can you advice how I can do that? Thank you in advance and have a great day!

     Regards,

This functionality is what the Assembly Part attempts to do, although it is half baked in my opinion.  I use 2 parameters to assist with Assembly Naming.  I use the PreDefined Remark to assign an assembly to be either a Stick Assembly or Welded Frame Assembly.  If the assembly is a Welded Frame then it is named using Free Remark and not the Model Role.

For Example:-

1. A Stick Assembly / Beam = Beam

2. A Welded Frame / Beam = Platform Landing

You could change the detailstyle headline from the token "name" to "userattribute" and in the bom editor the maipartname to useratrribute.
The question is: what do you want to archive? Where in Advance Steel (drawings, bom list) shoult this name be used

    Hello Sebastian,

Thank you for your reply. I need it for the name of the Assembly drawing in Document manager to use userattr. Generally I want the generated drawings and pdfs to have names, same as what they have in userattr. If we can change it automatically in Assembly mark(using userattr) it will be easier and the best, but I'm not sure if this is possible.

some token could not be used for the filename creation, I made a short test and from my point of view--> the Userattribute is not possible
This has a few reasons:

  • do you make a difference in numbering by controlling the userattribute? If not a mainpart for example with number "3" could have two different userattributes...which should be used?
  • the naming will only work, if you use a a process "each MP on one drawing" otherwise--> same problem as above: which userattribute should be used?

Hi @bakalov.ivaylo

Can you share an image or example of what you are putting in your User Attribute 1 that you want to use in the numbering

Is it just that you want each assembly to have a unique number as this can be achieved with the numbering dialog boxUnique assembly.png

Maybe I misunderstood the question.  Are looking to give each assembly a unique name?

UsrAttr can't be used for numbering BUT Lot/Phase could be a good option.
