Keep menus in place?

Keep menus in place?

Hello.

Everytime I start my ASteel, all the ASteel-menus (ASteel-Toolpalette / Drawing Styles / Drawing Templates /...) jump back to the upper left corner of ASteel.

Is there a way to keep them in the position where I dragged them? I place them on my 2nd Screen, so my workspace is full usable.

It's a pain to move them everyime (I would have to do it less, if ASteel wouldn't Crash so many times Smiley Sad)

thanks and Kind regards

When advance steel loads, it restores the menus according to the workspace. That's why you are loosing your changes.

You have two options:

1) Set the WSAUTOSAVE variable to 1 so your workspace gets automatically saved when you exit AS.

2) Manually save your workspace every time you make a change to the menu (display, pull-downs, toolbars, pallets...)

Hope that helps...

Hello,

sorry for the late answer.

I've checked the WSAUTOSAVE variable - it's already set to 1.

I seem to remember that the position was defined somewhere in the Windows-registry too? (I remember we had sometimes problems with the 2nd screen, which was sometimes on the left side, sometimes on the right side of the main screen, and if you've used another workplace and your toolpalettes were on the 2nd (wrong) screen you couldn't reach them, and in this case an entry in the registry was modified to keep them in the workspace after a restart - but I'm not sure)

thanks&kind regards

If you have yours off to the right like I do that does become a problem.  If you have the "Sample Views" extended to right like on the left in the screenshot then click on the circle with the arrow to close it, as shown in the right.  This should keep them from moving around the next time you open AS.  Sometimes it takes more than once to get it to stick, but it does work.  Now your main Tool Pallets will stay put if you dock it.
