is there a standard connection in advance steel to do full pen weld cjp similar to the picture for hss

The AdS Welding Symbol is lacking in several areas to meet industry standards. I did a video to explain what I could and could not get the Welding Symbol macro to do. Unfortunatley that Welding Symbol macro is not open source or accessible via the API so we are limited to the achieveable functionality. I am not expert in the AWS standard so my video speaks more to Australian and ISO Standard. If you have a copy of the AWS standard I would be keen to read up on it for when I to convert our metric AdS system across for the US market.

there is no macro for this connection type, but you can still create your own custom connection (template) for this, unfortunately separate version for each combination.

Actually possibilities:

Weld markings can be modified to a certain extent - search for and take a look at the Weldtemplate.dwg /  WeldTemplateOrientationLine.dwg

Hi, I assume you are asking about a macro that will bevel one edge and place backing bars if needed.

No, no macro, bevel is done using the standard commands, and backing bars 1/16" offset from the inner edge, Beam Polyline or Folded beam commands, the outer radius of bending wall thickness-1/16" if not round HSS). Backing bars are usually split in half for rectangular and square HSS.

As for the weld symbols, as it was said, AS does not provide symbols for PJP and CJP 100% per AWS requirements. I use dynamic blocks for PJP and for CJP welds. I can find and attach if you need some.

I am not strong wirh the AWS standard, PJP & CJP.  Is this partial joint penetration and complete joint penetration?  

What should they look like? Is it the symbol that is missing or other information that needs adding to the Symbol?

if partial joint penetration, then Y, HY ...

if complete joint penetration, then V, K, HV...

I think all the symbols are there

Weld symbols have to be per AWS, arrow side bevel centered on backing bar for example.

The above in red is done by AS, in white is what I need.

There are a few other items that need fixing in order to use AS weld symbols for CJP or PJP welds.

I find it useful, and CJP and PJP are done per AWS.
