HOW TO INSERT WIRE MESH

Hi Guys,

I saw on another post that there was a SQUARE WIRE MESH selection within VARIABLE GRATING

The post was from an earlier version of AS and i'm using 2018

Is this option still available somewhere or is there a new way of inserting wire mesh???

Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes to the variable grating and no to a new way of inserting. I am doing a job in 2019 at present and using a variable grating. I have created my own library of different meshes which I can choose one of the meshes in the library. I use the standard or custom hatches as required. Works well unless you will be setting cameras to either side of mesh as the pattern only appears on one side. That is a pain.

So are there any wire meshes available for use by default or do you have to create them yourself?

Hi @Anonymous,

There are several grating catalogs coming with default AS installation.

If you find the exact producer and model in these ones, then you can use them directly.

Otherwise you could add them in your database.

As @Anonymous mentioned, you may want to create your own library of gratings / wire meshes once, and then you can use them for any project.

Also, you might want to take a look to the "Bar grating" type; it could be helpful for some projects.

I hope this will help you

Best regards,
Emy

Hello,

if you want wire meshes in advance steel, you may have to create your own gratings

See topic below about creating a new grating:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/advance-steel-forum/new-custom-grating-in-as2019/m-p/7949703#M18223

i've made by myself one new grating for meshes 50x50x5mm, and works pretty well, especially for hatch representation.

Thanks Guys,

I'm beginning to realise just how much customisation can be involved in setting up advance steel
