How do you add a Hatch Pattern

I would like to know how to add a Hatch Pattern and apply it to a Variable Grating? I need the pattern to appear as welded wire mesh not standard "Grate" hatching. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also I still working in 2015.1 not 2016

Thanks,

Rob

AstorGratings.mdb you should be able to modify the hatch pattern for the chosen grating.

You need to save the custom hatch pattern file (.pat file) in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Shared\Support

Once saved to this location it will be available in the daialog box.

@múinteoir thanks for the response. Now one last question how can I edit an existing .pat file? There is an existing "Mesh Square Articulated 20x20" I need the squares to be 4"x4" or 102mm x 102mm?

A hatch pattern .pat file is simple text.

For orthogonal patterns such as gratings you should be able to use Notepad to edit and save the result as a .pat file (via Save as type -. All Files), naming the file to match the name of the single pattern it contains. Ensure there is a blank line at the end of the file and that no line is longer than 80 characters.

To edit more complex patterns I suggest HatchKit.

Hi,

I use As 2016. I get only the patterns in the acad.pat and acadiso.pat files loaded. None of advance steel patterns in

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Shared\Support.

Is that really working for you?

There seems to bei either a problem with the path or the pattern definition here.

Hi,

works now , after I added C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Shared\Support, the location of the Advance .pat files,

to the Support File Search Path in AutoCAd Options.
