Hidden "new" feature /

Hi @Anonymous,

I made a video for our customers and I think maybe someone other will help it or just give some ideas for using Advance Steel.
Next week (if my time will allow it) I will create a Knowledge Network Article which show the steps I do.

In the video I create a new palette and add some custom command to have a direct key access to detailstyles for cut views and so on.
So the result is to have button or commands to create cut views with specific detailviews without using the "settings" step in the cut view command.

For sure I know this is not a new feature, because this is already working in older versions, but now it work again and I think not many user know how to handle it.

Here is the video:

Direct link: Youtube Channel

I hope the video is easy to understand, if someone need help, I will try to answer here.

Hello sebastian,

Thanks for sharing but to moderate your enthusiasm it's written on the "Whats'New" Section of the online help Smiley Happy

  • The "Create cut view" and "Create call-out view" commands now support the option to override the view request key through a parameter part of the command text. In addition to the existing "Settings" override dialog, the commands will now accept a "Key" parameter which will allow the manual input of the view request key.

Link for the online Help: http://help.autodesk.com/view/ADSTPR/2020/ENU/

But the screencast will be very useful, for the syntax command (personally i always make 3/4 errors with syntax at each command creation Smiley LOL)

I know it publishes in the what's new, but I think the most don't know what this really means or what could be done with this.

Hi Sebastian,

i think too most of new members won't know what theses lines are about.

maybe @Anonymous  could make a dedicated section in the online help ?

Like others new options ?

Maybe this should be integrated in the help under the direct command of the cut view command.

@Sebastian_Eiche

I admire your persistence.

The funny part is I learned how to create new AS Toolpalette last night, and I was putting anything in it my overworked brain can think of after normal business hours:)

About having dimensions in it, these are FASTER working in Default Shortcut Menu.

About Callouts and Section Views-Your idea about custom commands is great,

but I would rather put them in the default menu, and I would like to thank you for this idea!

Keep doing what you do, Sebastian, you are contributing and you are great.

If this information was helpful, please use the Accept as Solution function, this makes it easier for other users.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

great use of the AS palettes Seb,  they are very flexible in their use and application.
