[help] Camber beam details

I’m working for the first time with cambered beams on advance steel.

I’ve modelled the structure, defined the beams as cambered and set the amount of camber required for each one.

My problems began when I tried to create the part/assembly details for such beams has I found that I can only create one type of drawing for this kind of beam (print attached).

The factory is used to have a part detail, where cuts, holes are presented and an assembly detail. Therefor is there any way of making a part detail where only the beam is displayed?

In the detail attached the attached parts are only displayed on the front view. In this view the upper flange has 7630 mm of length but in reality, after camber, it will have 7634 mm. This difference will make the shear connector and stiffeners out of place (the difference on this beam is almost nothing but on others beams is not). Therefore, is any way of presenting the attached parts on a view with camber geometry?

Cambering should generally not have an effect on flange lengths, given the beam will settle back (in theory) to 0 camber once loaded. In order to get the sort of differentials you are talking about, the beam would have to have about 100 mm of camber, which sounds like a lot. However, this doesn't negate the fact that lengths should not be changed.

I think in your case, it would appear that the flange grows more, because you have placed the axis central on the beam....

Sorry, don't think I was clear. Yes, cambering will have an effect on the flange length (although negligible in most cases). However, the beam lengths should not be altered.

The flange growth / shortening will be affected by various factors:

• Distance between camber axis and flange
• Length of beam
• Amount of camber

The beam I posted is an IPE500 with 7630 mm of length and 15 mm of camber. The camber axis is centered on the beam height.

My goal is that the assembly drawing is as real as possible so it don’t generate doubt’s to the person who is assembling it.

To bypass this, I will set all dimension lines to the beam axis, this way the lengths will be real. I expected advance steel to be able to correct the position of the attached parts to the cambered position…
