hello
Why that sometimes the green frame is large and beyond the prototype?
Not always the case, and even with the processes of advance also happens, I do not understand.
Thank you

hi,
most off the times it happens with an update, just give this drawing a hard update in the drawing itself.
mostly the frame gets normal again then.
good luck

Already tested on two platforms, in advance cad, this problem does not happen, it happens the other, which is the axis line does not follow the clip.
In advance cad platform, to update the axis line is already in the hole.
In autocad happens that green frame expands outward design.
I can not work fully on any platform

Green frames ussualy expand if during update the view gets an object or a label/dimension misplaced, very far from the view object itself. Could you please attach a model+drawing where you encounter this issue?

We are having a similar issue. Please also see my post.
Has a solution been found for this? Is there a way to redefine/refresh the extents of the detail frame?
Thx.

Hi,
we told the problem with the green detail frames to the Graitec support in last year and they told it to Autodesk. This means: Autodesk already knows this problem! But absolutely nothing happend in this time!

The green frame expands based on the request from the view, on how many objects it needs to fit, and doesn't have manual controls over its size. If its to large, then you may have objects attached to the detailed objects, but far from them, that forces the frame to expand. It would help us to understand the issue better by mentioning the Advance Steel version used and also attach us the drawing where the issue appears.

Hi,
here in Germany we have a support contract with Graitec as our reseller. They got all the informations (version, modell, drawings and so far) about this "bug". And they sent it to Autodesk. So Autodesk should already have all this informations!
The problem is, the detailframes become huge after small changes in the modell. For example changing the diameter of a screw. Nothing else is changed. No additional parts were attached. After the update the detailframe becomes huge.
Greetings
Joerg

Check this one out out....it is the record size so far......7 out of 10 drawing we create have huge oversized green frames......#No R&D ....PS, the tiny white image is a 17x11 drawing

Same problem.
I did a test model that consisted of one single beam with end plate. No other model parts.
Then the part drawing would create these huge frames whenever I would force an update.
Also, some of the dimensions would disappear or get shifted strangely.

Same problem.
This time it happened when changing scale.
Very painfull to correct once this occurs.
eg. There are no objects in the huge area.
Changed scale back & forth a few times, updated a few times.
Deleted a view. Eventually got it.
Note that the views in this case DO NOT have individual frames. ONE FRAME surrounds all views.
Attached screen shot.

The cause of this issue seems to appear from hatches present in the drawings. Create a drawing with hatch followed by the edit of another drawing (adding dimensions, creating labels etc.) triggers an issue that on a next drawing generation, scale changing or any other action that affects the view the views get enlarged, without having a loose object far from the view objects themselfs. This ussualy gets fixed by running an update, but you need to check and eventually move the cut name section cuts which will not allow the cut views to readjust.
We're still looking into it and I will come with additional information about this as soon as possible.

After some further investigation on this issue we discovered that the problem comes from the use of "Apparent Intersection" snap point in combination with mouse hovering over hatches and lines. By turing this snap point off the issue is avoided and the drawings are no longer created with a huge green frame.

is there a simple step guideline on how to do this? is it in my snap settings?
I ended up just turning off the green frames in advance manager however, if there is a new solution i'll try it!

The apparent intersection is a snap present in the AutoCAD OSNAP settings dialog.
To open this check the attached picture, or use the command _osnap.
Then uncheck the "Apparent Intersection" snap point and close the dialog with "Ok".
I recommand having this turned off also during modelling, as the issue that trigger the detailing problem may appear also when Apparent Intersection snaps try to calculate a point inside a 3D model space.

We have 2 users here that have never had "Apparent Interesection" enabled, and they get the enlarged detail frames from time to time just like everyone else.
We think that there's more to it than that.

Hi jlane,
Try the process below.
Open the detail drawing and update the detail.
Please see attached PDF for a step by step
I hope this helps,
Best regards,

How did you turned off the green frame?

Hello maskingZP55X
Causes
The probable cause is you have most likely customized an Imperial template and using it as Metric template.
Recommendation
For the scenario below, the Imperial Prototype was saved and used in a metric Project. Change it to Americas Metric.
Image-1
From the Page Setup set the scale to Millimeters instead of Inches.
Image-2
Most important!!!! use the appropriate metric scale related to the prototype sheet size. For this demo (1:25) is used. Check to see if an imperial scale is being used.
For this demo the imperial option was checked in the Project Settings and the scale of 93/32”=1’-0” was used and contributed to the detail being lost in Paper Space.

The end results for sheet #1
I hope this helps.
