Can anyone explain what's going on with these folded plates throwing out wild numbers for the weights? Can the "Exact Weight" be trusted?

I agree with you in this case. If the selection is symmetrical, the exact weight shopud be the same number. The question is...what is the variable the controls this calcullation?

It appears that it has something to do with the area not getting calculated correctly. Seems that the Weight is determined by a simple formula (probably Area * Weight/area unit) and if you look at the pictures, the Area is just as wild. However, Exact Weight seems to be about right, so that uses an entirely different method? The only other method I could think that it uses for Exact Weight would be that it takes the area of the faces of each folded plate section (minus features) and then combines them, multiplying by thickness, then multiplying by weight/area unit.

I dunno, kind of at a loss on this one. I guess what I can do is remake the plates using 3D Solids to get the area of the solid then multiply it by the steel weight manually.
