Export to DXF - Not creating parts or 'unrecognized version and cannot be read'

Morning All,

Just finished my model and have exported all parts to NC/DXF, however a large amount of these arent working/opening. Some of these items are basic pressing which have been drawn as a Folded Beam.

Ive noticed all the file sizes for NC are 1kb and most DXFs are 170kb - when i try and open one of these i get the error

'Unrecognized Version and cannot be read'

The folding company are saying they cannot work from the PDFs...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I would say your problem is because its a folded beam and not a folded plate.

NC files will be small in size, not sure but probably because they are just numbers?

You will only be able to view NC files with a DSTV viewer.

Hi,

F1004 is a folded plate. It is being described as a custom section in the NC file. DXF Files are generated from the NC data.

  • Go to Management Tools > Defaults.
  • Structured BOM/NC > DStV NC&DXF > Use the unwind beam name a profile code in NC files header. Tick this.
  • Update defaults
  • Try your NC and DXF files again.

Turn this off again if doing files for circular tube or they will be described as a flat plate to roll up like a cigarette.
