dynamic section steel like concrete dynamic section ?

Hi everyone

Is it possible to create dynamic section (HxB) in steel profil as the dynamic sections but in concrete ?

see below for much explanations:

the dynamic sections (concrete and cannot be weld):Dynamic concrete.png

and the steel section but are not dynamic but can be weld:Dynamic Steel.png

modify in the table is very fastidious ant not user friendly when  we have to do it each week (and if the MDF isn't share on a server have to do it for each user)

So is it possible to add one and for all a steel profil who can be set for dynamic parameters ?

example:

Create: PROFIL I PARA

            PROFIL U PARA

            etc etc...

I hope i've been enought clear Smiley Frustrated

And thanks in advance Smiley Happy

sorry for my question but: Why?

Steel profiles are defined in specific profile tables, which are produce in big shops. You could stock them, order them and so on.

Conrete is an on site object. What you need is create on the building site, so you need to shutter it then you have the result you want. A profile table is not use able because you could define by the shuttering which dimensions you want.

I think you want to use it for something, maybe you explain what you want to do.

hi,

it was my mind until i start to make mecanic parts, often i have to produce specific pipe example: pipe 13.5x1.7mm and others sections specific.

Tekla have this function so i wanted to know if AS has the same.

but apparently not, except on concrete elements.

i understand the idea to say steel object are from industry catalog, but maybe we fabricate our own pieces who don't necessitate to make a new class of profile and the long user section method.

Hi,

It is not possible to do what you ask.

However, if the material thickness is consitent throughout the profile then you might be able to use Folded Beam to produce what you want. For your tube you would simply draw a circle of the right size then do a folded beam where material thickness is the wall thickness of the tube.

You can do any shape with this command so long as it is single thickness and does not cross itself.

for example tube are easy to create in the databases by copy existing table rows. Same for profile like flat, round, or rectangle

hi,

Thanks for the tip of folded beam, it works for simple sections Smiley Wink

But as my opinion, less we have to edit DB less errors we make.
