Drawing title block information

Using Advance Steel 2019

Thabks for reviewing my post.

Question: Do you have to manually fill out each title block of every sheet once they have been created? It seems crazy to me that this can’t be set up prior to creating drawings so that the project information is automatically filled out. Help with this would be very much appreciated

Hi,

in the model, you need to use the “project settings” button , it’s on the home tab of the ribbon towards the right,  fill in the fields under the first two tabs, and there is also a tab at the end for user project attributes.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/advance-steel/getting-started/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2018/ENU/AdvSteel-GetStarted/files/GUID-52AC1094-F73B-4DB5-81B9-328E7A862D5B-htm.html

the prototype page header block header, will have be set up to receive the data from the model project settings, using tokens /attributes .   It should filter through.

Also if you have already created the drawings, you can still enter the information under project settings, the use the update page header button, on the label and dimensions tab, there is a little fly out at the bottom of the first panel on the ribbon.

cheers

For sure we don't fill it manual. In the start tab right side near to the management tools button, you have the project settings. Here you could fill all attribute which could be filled automatically.

In the dialogue in the end there are a few extra userattribute.

There's a knowledge base article belonging to the prototype article which token are available and could be used in the title block

I have a question. I have a block defined already with attributes. Is it possible to define another block in the template that can also be updated automatically?

I don't know if user defined attributes token can be manipulated for this purpose

As I know the token are only working if they are part of the HYPERSTEELPAGEHEADER, but why not including the token to this block but move them to place you want (on the place, where your other block is located) by creating the Hypersteelpageheader block

Yeah, but all the tokens are already assigned in the block previously created. For the new block (or the same block with Extended rows and columns) would I not need new attributes token?

there are only a few attributes, which could be included or better "get filled" from the model, and yes you have to recreate the block.

available attributes

Hi, @johnjmbennett

that button Isn't working for me, this message keeps popping up 'This command only applies to model DWGs'

even thought I've updated my models project settings and have both model & drawing open.

please see attached pdf & prototype. Am i doing something wrong?

This was not the first incounter. My other projects are the same, just getting frustrated with it now cause this job has hundreds of drawings....

I am using AS2020

Kind Regards,

Kiet

You need to use update page header when in model space, not in a 2D drawing.

I'm not sure but you should probably close any 2D drawings associated with the model that are open.

It should update all the drawings you have in DM.

If this information solves your problem please accept as a solution.

@mick-CNF Thank you!, that was something I didn't think to try. I kept reading similar things but was thinking I needed the actual 2d drawing open along with the model. But really I just needed the model open and not the drawing.

this is the AKN help page on this process, you must be in the model DWG.
