Details List for Overview Drawing

I am trying to "Insert a Details List" on a sheet containing an Overview Drawing for a Staircase with Railings. The idea is to show in the list only the elements that is contained in the view.

According to this article it is possible if the detail style uses the Detail box or Detail box with Xrefs option: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/advance-steel/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU...

I have set the Model Object Selection in my Detail Style to this option but it will still show elements in the list that is not part of the view. as can be seen in the images.

For testing I have used a Camera with the "1.5 - Elevation (Full)" detail style in the International Category assigned to the Camera Properties. I have however also tried to create the view by applying the Style directly to the model in the XY plane.

your problem is the following:

  • you have a part called ANGLE4 this is part of the the other mainpart and in the mainpart you want to show
  • so the BOM list on drawing is "based on mainpart", by showing the "ANGLE4" all mainparts with this part will be part of the list. =(

What you could do: create an extra property. I create a screencast for you: https://autode.sk/2Ags8uV
Steps I did:

  • create a camera of the railling I want to show
  • show the part "3" is included because of another part (based on mainpart)
  • set another property, I use Lot/Phase and set it to TEST
  • create a new structured list and use this setting to filter special elements
  • use the list and get the result
