Custom connection on pipe

Hello,

I am trying to make a custom connection on pipe, but all the plates buttons are related to the I-beams. Does anyone did such a custom connection until now?

Hi,

If the out-of-box connection does not work (screenshot does not show what is around) , then try by selecting the first beam to be the pipe, OR using BEAM WITH ONE END or using BEAM AND POINT.

So, in general, the first beam selected when building the custom connection will be the main beam same as all other connections.

From the screenshot, it seems this may be a free-standing end, so either Beam with end or Beam with point should work.

If you upload a small sample we can try to do it.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

No, the final node looks like in the picture attached. I am trying to make a custom connection in order to be able to give it also to other users.

It is quite hard to use the connections' palette for this case, I didn't succeed to do it as dwg attached. This is why I want to make a custom connection for it, but seems that pipe beams are not included.

Hi,
Attached is the custom connection for the one end.

The hole in the gusset plate at the main beam is not included, but you can always include it.

This is what I did too, but I just hoped that all the plate can be defined with the Custom Connections Palette buttons, in order to have parametric plates which can be adjusted function of the pipe dimensions.

Thank you for your suggestion.
