Column View Direction

I'm using the drawing process to create my column drawings. I'm trying to get my drawing views so that only the front face of the column is detailed along with the top and bottom. For some reason AS is picking the side of my column as the front and putting in another view to the side. In order for a shop to build the column shown in the 3D view I only need the front face, top, btm and a section; this will allow me to fit more columns on one sheet.

When I set the Assembly Detailing Direction to the front of the column I get the exact view that I want, but the column is shown horizontal instead of vertical as shown below.

How can I adjust my drawing process so that I automatically get the drawing shown above, but with a vertical orientation?

I don't want to manually set the assembly direction for every project and I also don't want to affect the views for the other members that are not columns.

Thanks

Juan

Hi

You will need to create a new drawing style for column and call it something like "Standard" which would be the orientation of the view.

Be careful if you haven't created Drawing Styles before

1. Change the orientation of the view to standard, shown below

2. delete the views you don't require as AS will try to determine which are needed but can not always be right right.

Hope this helps
