Column Stiffener at Shear Plate

How would you go about adding these stiffeners to align top and bottom of the shear plate?

What I am hoping to accomplish is have this be a connection I can use in multiple locations. I am not able to accomplish the following:

  1. Extend stiffener to column flange.
  2. Top stiffener aligned to top of shear plate.
  3. Bottom stiffener aligned to bottom of shear plate.

Currently I am using the "Shear Plate" connection macro. Here are my settings for the column stiffener:

Maybe it is not possible with this macro. If it is not possible with this macro, is there a different one I should use?

Does this need to be a custom connection? If so, any advice on creating that would be appreciated.

hi @JeremyOakes,

always look for the offset setting in such a macro. If it is not available, delete the gray macro box and move the sheets / welds manually. By deleting the box, the intelligent macro will disappear in the connection, but it will bring free editing of all items in the former macro. Unfortunately, in AS you have to make similar "compromises" on a daily basis = heavy on the training ground, light on the battlefield😀😉

PS: Depending on how many different such connections you have, you can also create a user connection, with all the pros and cons

+++ impossible immediately and miracles within 3 days +++
+++ the only constant is the change +++ stay tuned for more +++
+++ since 03/2023 is Advance Steel in maintenance mode, no further development +++

Hi,

You could use the Shear Plate Jont and cut the secondary beam off straight. Then add two separate Stiffener Joints to place the stiffeners. Once placed, you could wrap all three joints together as a Custom Connection.  That keeps all the joints intact.
