Circular hollow section - telecommunication tower - tube connections

Hi there,

I need some help here. Is there a connection like this one in advance steel and I want to know how to make a connection for bracing at intersections.

Hi,

there is not standard connection in advance steel to create the flattered pipe brace type.

tbh there is no standard way to deform the tube end in the software.

the only way I every found was to create a special part for the tube end and added that into a custom connection,  but lot of work to create that.

you could try building it manually from plates bolts and welds with a solid to create the flattered end.

this solution is much better, also from the static side. Your solution for transmission / mobile tower was also in use in our country until the 70's, after several accidents you are no longer allowed to use it here.

Thanks very much for your reply. and want to ask you another thing what about the the bracing intersection can you please provide me a solution for it. shall I add a gusset plate and use the same concept.

For bracing macros look under the connections vault, the tube bracing types, there are several end types available, also there should be a central gusset plate type, but it may not achieve everything within the one macro, If the image shown is correct design concept,  you may need to do one connection for the tubes and then another one to add bolts to the gusset and the angle section shown.

you can add bolts either by bolt groups tools or use the bolt on plate or section, under the custom connection.
