BOM on Drawing Formulas

BOM on Drawing Formulas

I would like to have either a structured list or a material list on our detail drawings that shows the total length of pipe used in a handrail assembly. I had heard that there are formulas available for drawing lists similar to what is available for external BOM. Could someone point me to where these formulas are and how to use them?

thank you.

On trick with the formula's is that the data needs to be in the list (Even if it is set invisible)

That is the standard help file info for BOM and not what I'm looking for. I
need to know if I can use formulas in the drawing lists other than the SUM
function. Or do you know of a way to obtain a total length of material using
the SUM function? The structured material list has the ability to provide a
total weight, for example, but I have not found anything that provides the
total length of material. The list would be used to obtain a total length of
handrail pipe.

Thank you for your continued help.

So below are some examples of using formulas.

One example is in the Detail Line of the BOM

In the above picture I have the PAINT token in the list but it is set to invisible, as the data must be in the list for the Formula to use the token.

The other in the Footer Line of the BOM

I will give this a try today. Thank you for your suggestion.

I've tried the suggestion for the BOM on drawing function without success. None of the values, including the name, shows in the list. The text titles for those columns display but there is nothing beneath them. I used the %SUMBy:%LengthinModel token to get the total length of pipe. For the description I used the %Name token. I would have thought that at least the name would show. I have no problem getting the total weight. What needs to be done to get the total length? I can attach a snip of the BOM template if that would help.

Thank you.

I have the same problem. Total weight in model works on BOM but it does not work for Length. See below:

This is the table:

This is updated list for weight:

This is the table, changed to total length in model:

The only solution came to my mind was to add a formula and multiply the Length to Quantity! 😄
