I have a model of two platforms, mirror image, with a unique handrail on one side. There are bent 1/16" plates. I modeled the left platform first and then mirrored it over to the right. I have isolated the bent plates in question in the attached model.

Why am I getting proper numbering for some of these plates and  not the others? I've wasted at least a day trying to fix this. AS strikes again.....

If you mirror an object in Advance steel, the program now sees it as different. Our work around is to use the rotate command instead. but if its a true copy of a mirror, then you should just copy the object instead of mirroring it.

Hope this helps.

....then how do we explain the plates that DID come out as expected?....

Very frustrating......every day.

That's a good point, I never considered that. They might have it coded differently for plates and beams to determine if a geometry is the same or not.

One common error we had with mirrored objects was that the beam would detail upside down, and it would call out the bottom of the beam with the top of steel callout.

Yes, I do know that "mirror" in AS world could be a bad word!

I did rotate my plates and it is fine now - your solution might be the only one that works - but it really isn't the desired solution, if you catch my drift.

In the end all I need to do is get drawings out! …...yesterday!!!

maybe additional: the problem with the mirrored plates which are different is known to Autodesk.
I just played around a bit an in this case, the rectangle feature are the problem. If delete them and mirror the plate all work fine.
I know this will not help you but maybe for your interest

I know it#s to late for your case, but maybe for the future to have a workaround. by using the contour feature command, you could mirror the plates and they will be the same ( I made a screencast), so I think the problem of the other commands, that there's maybe an "up" and "down" side of the feature, but this is not important for us, this had to be corrected by the development.

Here's the screencast: mirror problem
