Angled Section to Angled Section with a Plate

Hi All, I am trying to 3D model a Transmission Line Tower in Advanced Steel, but I am running into an issue. Where the legs of my tower meet the body, I am trying to add just a steel plate to connect the cross members to the main leg. It is all with Angled Sections. Is there a way to add one or create my own to add in?

Thanks!

Yeah, use the Plate Macro then bolt them all together.

Where is the plate to be located?

Have you looked into using the Transmission Tower macro for Advance Steel that Graitec have developed?

in the Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel, there are actually no connections especially for Transmission towers, if I'm not mistaken

Well, the problem is with the plate macro is that all of them are for beams or other items except for Angled Sections. I just need a standard flate plate that I can add bolt holes to, to make it fit what I need. Is there any way that I can make my own plate in AutoCAD and add it in?

Have you used the plate macro to make just a plate?

You can also use the macro "plate parallel beam" and then screw the parts together

Hi @njownby,

if it is just a screw connection between any profile and leg using sheet metal (not welded on), create sheet metal manually on leg (first ucs on leg) and and then use the 2x the function Bolts on beam (leg and plate, profile and plate), which will help you to place bolts in the leg and profile parametrically. Finally, adjust the shape of the sheet as needed. You can also later create a user connection, but only after you gain enough experience with the basics. Unfortunatelly, Advance Steel does not have many joints for transmission towers, we had to create them a lot too (the fun begins when the leg and profile do not have parallel connection surfaces (there is a wedge-shaped gap between them)
