I have 3D model in Advance steel...my client does not have Advance Steel but only AutoCAD
Now I have to convert this Advance Steel 3D model to AutoCAD 3D model...
Once converted, then when I open in AutoCAD, i need to get the objects as blocks in AutoCAD..
that is if there are same marked members in Advance Steel, then it needs to same block name in AutoCAD blocks...
Please could somebody help me urgently.
Expldoe beams and plates to ACIS in Advance Steel
Thanks for the quick support.
To explode to ACIS....i understand we need to select each member by member and then explode...
That means a project of 1,000 members have to be exploded 1000 times ?
is there any common way to explode all to ACIS and convert to 3D solids..
have I missed out anything...?
you need to use the selection filters or the search filer tool to select the required objects
That looks better....
Is there any chance of expeorting the whole 3D model of Advance steel to any formatt that can be opened in AutoCAD as solids or blocks.
Still any chance of getting Advance steel parts to AutoCAD blocks....rather than solids...
For example Inventor filescan be exported to "STEP" formatt and inserted into AutCAD.
All the inventor parts will be named into AutoCAD blocks..
I'm looking for any such options or common file formatt fr Advance Steel and AutoCAD..
Thanks for the support.
Starting with Advance Steel 2015.1 release, there is also avaliable a free Object Enabler application that can be installed over AutoCAD, and allow AutoCAD to open an Advance Steel model for visualization (with all object properties beeing avaliable, and objects offering snaps for any AutoCAD command used with them as reference). The 2015.1 Object Enabler is able to open any Advance Steel 3D model coming from 2015 and 2015.1 versions, and can be downloaded from http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/advance-steel/downloads/caas/downloads/content/advance-steel-2... , free of charge.
If you need to export the Advance Steel objects in solids, you will need to perform a full explode to ACIS before, and then either open the drawing as it is, or export it to .sat file.
Exploding the model can be done in one step - selecting all AS 3D objects and using "Explode to ACIS" command, but to be able to perform a full select you will need to manually remove a set of internal objects, that don't offer the explode to ACIS option. More information about this can be found in the following FAQ : http://help.autodesk.com/view/ADSTPR/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-5317EE15-42DA-43A6-9585-160761CCAC36
You can try the homemade folowing command
Unzip the file, load the DLL (command NETLAOD on acad and select the dll file)
The Acad command is ASEXPLODEALL.
It explode all the AS entities, union them if needed (folded plates) and then erase all AS element from the drawing. You'll have to export to step file or save as .dwg solid file.
This is homemade command, don't hesitate to comment !
If it works fine, i can modify it to put each solid in a block named the numbering value of the part.
Alerat,
Thanks for the support.
Somehow, i'm not getting the command "ASEXPLODEALL".
It is showing unknown command.
Anyway if it works it is great contrubution.
Also you can try to get the "Assembly mark number - Single mark Number" (clubed together with a hiphen)
if this can be the block name...
it would be superb. hat's off.
To get it inot Bocks in AutoCAd is very importatnt...
As a normal Bcount can give the quantity list.
In case any blockes needs to get a change, the global change on all the smae blocks can be possible.
Also it can be comparable and checked with the AS extracted assemmbly drawings and detail drawings...
if there is no blocks, then how do we identify the AS drawings and AutoCAD 3D models ?
We are looking to deliver the full set of project done in AS (3D model, assembly, detail drawings)
to our client who has only AutoCAD.
It is very simple in inventotor...with exporting to step formatt.
We get inventor part and AuotCAD blocks....
Wondering if any such direct export import option is there between AS and AutoCAd.
Hi,
Please try the new attached file.
1 ) command Netload
2) Select ASexplodeAll.dll
3)run ASEXPLODEALL command
4) Working...
5) Done !
If this file works fine, i'll modify it to create blocks as you want it.
Thank you for the effort and support.
Sorry for being late to reply as I was out.
Unfortunately it is not working again.
Please find the attached message I'm receiving, when I do the NETLOAD
Hi,
Any chance in getting your lisp updated to convert adavance Steel objects,
to AutoCAD blocks with Advance Steel (Main Part + Single part) mark number to autoCAd block name.
Yes i'll try to do that in the week.
Have you succeed to load the dll ? I think it's in your security params you have to search (files from network...)
There is a new version if you work with AS2016.
Thanks for the support.
I tried the last attchment, unfortunately I'm not getting it.
I use Advance Steel 2016
Hi Eddie,
You can download it from autodesk website.
By the by....this is a discussion for one topic.
expecting reply and discussion on a particular topic.
YOu may better post such genral or new discussion as a new topic..
for better reach and reaponse.
Thankyou for your understanding.
Hi,
I think you should set up a session with Aadkinzgroup where you share screens and maybe have the option to have control to find out why your code is not working on his machine- just to get this problem done. Or you continue your conversation.....

Christian
