2 Rail questions

  1. It doesn't look like you can have variable rail post spacing, looks like you just have to delete the joint box and them move the post to where you need them and stretch the rails, is that correct?
  2. Doesn't look like you can define the post connection per post, for example the first section is setting on a W shape with a 4 bolt pattern, but when it turns the corner it sets on a Channel, post needs a two bolt pattern, again, just delete the joint box and edit as needed?
    • In this case would it be better to enter two separate rails and then miter the corners together?

this for a straight rail, not for stairs.

Hi @Aaron485

You are correct in your first response, the railing macro in Advance Steel cannot do variable post spacings so you would have to delete the macro and modify to suit. Graitec have a seperate Stairs and Railings macro which can achieve this but this is a seperate paid for add-on to Advance Steel.

For your second question if the connections in the railing macro wont achieve what you want becuase you want different connections on different beams you could leave the connections in the macro to off then use the railing connections from the "miscallanious" tab in the connecion vault and then use the joint copy tool.
