I am currently building out an ACC Takeoff Project Template that includes custom classification systems for various clients and a full set of pre-generated takeoff types to ensure consistency across all projects. This template project serves as a centralized master list for takeoff items and is intended to streamline standardization and reduce duplication of effort.
However, a significant pain point has been the need to manually create each takeoff type one by one, including linking them to the correct classification system, defining custom formulas where applicable, setting the unit of measure (UOM), and applying other relevant configurations. This process is extremely time-consuming and repetitive—especially when dealing with a large number of items.
To address this, it would be a major improvement to introduce a bulk import feature for takeoff types. This could support importing from a structured format such as Excel or CSV, with fields for classification mapping, formulas, UOM, and other metadata. Such a feature would greatly improve efficiency when building or updating templates, reduce errors, and make it significantly easier to maintain standardized takeoff structures across projects.
