Dear team,
I’d like to highlight a major user experience blocker in ACC when using its Files sharing function (within the Docs tool), which significantly limits the platform’s value as a Common Data Environment (CDE) and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
Current Issue:
When using the “Share” option to copy a file or folder link, only the raw URL is copied. This means when users paste the link—for example, into an Outlook email—there’s no “friendly” display text attached (like the document name); it’s just the plain and often lengthy URL.
This might sound small, but it’s a basic web standard (see example). Major competitors like Bentley’s ProjectWise (see the image attache; or even on Microsoft OneDrive) already offer this: when you copy a link, it comes with readable anchor text (the document name), making your emails look cleaner and easier to navigate.
Why this matters:
Important Note:
The request is not for a URL shortener, but for the “copy link” function to embed the document’s name as visible anchor text—making shared links user-friendly by default.
Let’s deliver a small but impactful upgrade that puts us ahead of the competition and encourages wider adoption. If you agree that user experience should be simple and intuitive, vote for this idea!
Thank you!
