Proposal to Update File/Folder Permissions
Current Approach:
The existing selection pulldown for permissions will be replaced with granular checkboxes for Read/Write/Create (RWC) options for files and folders.
Issue Identified:
To manage Revit-Cloud-Workshare files, we currently require Edit permissions, which inadvertently allows the creation of subfolders.
Proposed Permission Structure:
Files:
- ▢ View: Web-only access
- ▢ Link: New feature allowing linking within Revit-Cloud-Workshared models (no downloads)
- ▢ Download: Access to link and download for 'Live' worksharing (no modifications)
- ▢ Modify: Markups and read/modify capabilities (no uploads or file creation)
- ▢ Create: Ability to add new files via Collaborate or Desktop Connector
- ▢ Delete: Permission to delete files
Folders:
- ▢ View: Access to folder contents based on file permissions
- ▢ Link: Link to folder for reference in other Revit projects
- ▢ Download: Permission to download folder VIA Desktop Connector
- ▢ Modify: Ability to modify folder contents
- ▢ Create: Permission to create subfolders
- ▢ Delete: Ability to delete subfolders
Dependency Logic:
Selecting any permission greater than "View" will automatically check and disable "✔View." Remaining permissions can be combined as needed for linking, downloading, modifying, creating, or deleting files and folders.
