The problem we discovered when trying to use naming standard and revision value in our file names is that ACC doesn’t really work well with that. If we want to keep the revision in a file name and maintain versioning, we have to use a naming standard, BUT the revision must be a related attribute in this case. If it’s a related attribute, during the upload ACC won’t take revision value from the file name as the value of that attribute, so we have to write it in again every time we upload the file. Also, in the file name in ACC, it is shown without the revision value. It is only visible in the attribute value or binded to the version. Same problem happens when im downloading a file that has revision value as a related attribute. You have to set up the download to show it in the file name after it’s downloaded. I understand, as you can do whatever you want with related attributes, and they may have their uses. But revision is totally different. We need and want to keep it in the name without any special treatment the whole time and maintain file versioning.
Also any tool for autodesk desktop connector, when you are uploading to folder where naming standard is set could be great. Atleast get a warning that some files got stuck in the containment area or something like that.
Is there any chance to look into this and do something about it?
Thank you,
