I would like to be able to add a description to the settings of a project and be able to show it on the projects home page. We have multiple projects with the same customers where we would like to be able to show what the difference is without having to add it to the project name. The longer project name can cause issues with desktop connector for character length in windows.

YES!!!!, Precisely! 

Admins are constantly setting up ACC projects with extended project names so they can include that description. 

Which as described, instantly causes the Desktop Cache file path length to quickly balloon past the Windows character limit.

Add another column for the project DESCRIPTION. Allow that DESCRIPTION to be "displayed" on subsequent web pages without it being forced into the local cache file path.

It is the same concept as enabling the Description field for Folders.

Keep the local cache file path length as short as possible.

Most times the Pipe catalogs can't be added to ACC b/c the ultimate file path is too long.
