Currently we are unable to apply naming standards to files/folders in an ACC template. Adding to the template will allow us to apply it once and have it carry over to all new projects.
In order to achieve our standardization process internally, this could help a lot while creating new projects with our already defined templates. With this option we could indicate in which folders naming convention needs to be forced.
Today, we can import and export naming conventions to/from a project. However, we must still select manually the folder to which it should apply. As we try to keep consistent folder structure between projects, it's a lost of times to have to reconfigure it for each new one. Moreover, in our case, we setup several different naming conventions to different folders so that we can make sure that users can only save a given file to the right location. So, this makes the configuration quite cumbersome if we have to repeat it for each single new project with half hundred of differents naming conventions (folders). The naming convention structure is consistent between them but the attributes list is different for each.
Hi @EJMillerCNJZ5 this is not possible yet. At this moment users need to import naming standard project per project and decide to which folder this should be applied. But indeed, the fact to been able to define the naming convention already in the template will make us gain a lot of time and improve standardisation.
Very well observed @EJMillerCNJZ5! In our company, one of the main problems we face is assigning naming rules to folders in all projects created. This takes a lot of time and many errors can occur in this process. It was already a great step forward to be able to add more than one naming rule to a project. Autodesk later made it possible to add these rules to the template. The next step (and I hope it happens soon!) is the possibility of assigning naming rules to the template folders.
Today, I got also the idea and question from a customer. It would very useful to work efficiency with project templates and naming standard. It would be save a lot of time for the customer.
True, needed this feature today itself, I created more than 6 - 7 projects today, and had to go to each individual project for applying naming standards to 2 folders,
I tried applying naming standard in the template itself, but couldn't that was the moment I wished there was a feature like this.
