I’d like to suggest an improvement to BuildingConnected that would enhance the accuracy of trade classifications and, in turn, improve search rankings and bid relevance for specialized contractors.
Currently, our company—which specializes in commercial coffee and espresso equipment—is limited to selecting between “Appliances” and “Food Service Equipment.” These categories are too broad and group together a wide range of unrelated equipment types. As a result, it becomes difficult for businesses like ours to be accurately represented or discovered for relevant bids.
Suggested Improvement:
Please consider adding more granular subcategories within “Food Service Equipment” or introducing a new category such as “Coffee & Espresso Equipment” or “Specialty Beverage Equipment.” This would better reflect the specific scope of work we perform and allow for more accurate search filtering and bid targeting.
Accurate trade classification is essential for both contractors and GCs to connect effectively, and this update would be a meaningful improvement for companies in niche segments like ours.
