Current Limitation:
When not using Cloud Models or using IFC models, ACC allows uploading host models alongside linked models (e.g., RVT, IFC), linking is rigid: it occurs only during the upload process and files remain fixed in their original folder. If models are already present in ACC, not just uploaded together, there’s no way to create or maintain links to them, especially when they span multiple folders or have been shared via Design Collaboration.
Proposed Enhancement:
Introduce functionality in ACC to:
Link to existing files* (RVT or IFC) already stored across any folder in the project.
Maintain those links even after models are shared, consumed, or reshared through Design Collaboration, assuming the linked models are available for the "viewing" party
Support flexible folder structures, so linked models don’t need relocating—they can reside in any folder, yet be referenceable from anywhere.
Why It Matters:
Streamlines workflows by avoiding redundant re-uploads or duplication of models.
Improves coordination across teams by preserving context and integrity in linked models, especially for 2D plan visibility or coordination views within the Docs and Design Collaboration View
Supports modular design where models created by external parties or different teams can be referenced effectively regardless of folder hierarchy.
Maybe ideally it would be interesting if the links created in Revit could be maintained in ACC.
When using only Revit Cloud Models this is not needed, but given that IFC's are regularly used, it seems essential to me that they could also be viewed in the shared 2D views.
