Current Challenge:
There are currently no datasets available in the Data Connector for “References” used across modules in Autodesk Construction Cloud. This limitation makes it difficult to extract and visualize interlinked data efficiently in dashboards or external BI tools.
Industry Application:
We require an extensive dataset that includes References across modules so dashboards can include clickable links between related items such as forms, RFIs, submittals, photos, and issues.
Example Use Case:
In Autodesk Build, dashboards can be created in the Forms module with clickable links to the created forms. However, there are no datasets in Insight Builder or Data Connector that include References attached to these forms.
Many project elements — such as Forms, Photos, Issues, RFIs, and Submittals — are referenced in forms, but these relationships cannot currently be fetched in Insight Builder or Power BI dashboards due to the absence of an appropriate dataset.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce References Dataset within the Data Connector that includes:
- Source module and referenced module details
- Reference type (Form, RFI, Issue, etc.)
- Reference ID, name, and hyperlink
- Creation and update timestamps
This will enhance reporting, enable better data traceability, and support automated Power BI dashboards with clickable interlinks between related construction data entities.
