Currently, the Correspondence ID in Autodesk is auto-generated and cannot be modified or hidden. This creates challenges when logging documents that need to be forwarded to external users, especially when those documents follow a predefined numbering system.
For example, if a user creates a Correspondence Type for CCD (Construction Change Directives) and wants the Correspondence ID to match the CCD number, Autodesk does not allow this. Since CCDs may not always be issued sequentially, the inability to customize the ID causes confusion.
Suggested Improvements:
- Allow Manual Input for Correspondence ID – Users should be able to enter or adjust the ID to align with existing document numbering systems.
- Enable Hiding of Correspondence ID – If modifying the ID is not feasible, an option to hide it when sharing externally would help reduce confusion.
