Built-in visual model link planner for Bridge

Built-in visual model link planner for Bridge

Many who manage ACC projects of simple to complex need to think through how they will manage linked models, within their own environment and with external partners upstream or downstream. Best-case projects would include such planning in a BIM Execution Plan or similar. While best practice, that is quite often not done for a wide variety of reasons. However, BIM managers or BIM project leads must solve their project's link setup one way or another.

It could be amazing to have a very simple, yet dynamic and Docs-connected visual link mapping tool within ACC. Countless visual tools exist that people use, from a whiteboard to Visio to Miro and so forth and so on. But what if you could "model" or "map" the link structure in the ACC environment in such a way that you could associate existing - or planned - files in Docs and then use that map throughout the life of the project? The tool could support not only planning a project before models are created (or received, if you are "downstream"). But then you could turn the map into a living representation of all the connected files in your ACC environment and, Bridge. Different types of files types, locations, model states, etc could all be visually conveyed through the visual language of such a diagramming tool. Not unlike the 'Model view' in PowerBI and no doubt, many IT or database visual modeling tools used for system architecture.

Link management and project setup are such a challenge for those trying to manage interdependent projects, which is most jobs in the industry today. Autodesk could really help everyone with this challenge (and chore) with a tool designed to make it easier, understandable, dynamic, and accurate.
