Better customisable properties in model coordination viewer

Better customisable properties in model coordination viewer

The 'properties' tab in model viewer currently shows limited or irrelevant information to the average user. It would be good to have a  clear section that you can input into, to show information such as where each part of the model came from and what date, a description and any assumptions made in the modelling (e.g. what surface the levels were draped from).

In our BIM model, we can have dozens or hundreds of pipes in the same model, and being able to add properties, especially to multiple at once if possible, would be very useful for traceability or accountability. An enforced naming convention can only go so far. The clearer and more obvious for non-technical users the better.

Great Idea

Are you talking about an 'assemble' style workflow here, or more around the customising of the properties shown and the order they appear in?

The latter I can get behind, the models require so much data these days and a lot of it is not required for the basic uses of the model so the ability to set a project-wide property set or order of the properties would save us going down the route of having shared parameters in our data requirements and duplicating information already being provided.

@philip.valentineYCAEP No, I'm not too familiar with assemble but I'm talking about editing the properties in the model directly without exporting. A project-wide property set/order would be great, but mostly just being able to directly edit properties. Our model is of all the underground services in a new development and road, exported into the model directly from civil3d, which inputs loads of irrelevant properties from the extended data section of the property sets, relating to the corridor properties that just look like numbers to the average user. It would be good to be able to delete all of that and input a custom property set eg. file source, hyperlink, assumptions, pipe material, date surveyed, etc.
