2D CAD Files Added to Model Coordination

2D CAD Files Added to Model Coordination

In non-Coordination Space Navisworks, we can add 2D CAD files to Navisworks.

Adding 2D CAD files for Room Names or reflected Ceiling plans or simply CAD files for reference had been useful in Navisworks. Can this be added to Coordination Space Navisworks?

Thanks,

It's been awhile for that post but in case you still need help here's the workaround that worked for me. Add any 3D object, for example create 1x1x1 box somewhere in that DWG file then reupload to your coordination space folder, that should work to make the file appear in the list of . Regarding room names, sometime text failed to show on model coordination ... I used to just turn off the mask on the text in AutoCAD and that did the trick for me. but it's not as consistent for model coordination . sometime turning off the mask worked and sometime it didn't.  I hope that helps

One more tip: When bringing that 2D CAD to model coordination, if the elevation is not set most likely it'll go to 0 elevation . so you'd have 2 options:
1- Elevate the floor plan / RCP in the CAD file itself before uploading
2- Use the transform CAD file in model coordination itself

Note: Transforming the CAD file in Navisworks may not keep this transform in model coordination.  or when you close and reopen the file again.
