We are thrilled to announce the launch of Content Catalog, a cloud-based digital asset management tool designed to provide a single source of truth for storing, versioning, and accessing BIM content, including Revit families. Content Catalog is the new Autodesk integrated version of UNIFI Pro, available to Autodesk Docs subscribers at no additional cost.

With this launch, Content Catalog will only be available to those who store their data via the US data storage location. Access to Content Catalog, for those who utilize the EU and Australia storage locations, will be available at a future date.

Get started with Content Catalog today

Does anyone know if this supports anything related to Civil 3D? The marketing links about this mention C3D, but I cannot find any information about how it can help or work with C3D.

It appears this does not work for Revit Legend views at the moment, which would be the main use case of our firm (for typical details in all projects).

Also only a few sheets are showing up from any model, I'm not sure why.

@handjonathan Would you know if there are any plans to release an API for the content catalog? At the moment that's probably what's holding our company back from using it as we have several custom tools that interact with the Revit libraries. Thank you.

Hi, I started to explore Content Catalog. I use type catalog but it seems that families with type catalog *txt* associated dont work. When I try to insert the family into a revit file I get the error "Unable to download type catalog".
On the Autodesk site it says that txt files are supported. So is it possible to use type catalog inside Content catalog?

How do I get to display the actual content of an rfa file rather than just a blown up version of the thumbnail?

We're having an issue with an .rvt file uploaded to Content Catalog, the file is shown as being processed for days, and it also shows as being Revit version 2009 although it's actually Revit 2022.

We've originally uploaded the same file with no issue and it was processed and was available in Revit versions 2022 to 2025. This problem started fter uploading a new version which had issues with being processed. We tried deleting it and re-uploading but the issue persists.

P.S. just to clarify, this is a .rvt file containing details which are copied across multiple projects, hence why we'd like to use Content Catalog as a solution for having the file available in all Revit versions easily.

Same issue here, trying to test out Content Catalog as a year ago we were ready to use UNIFI when it was actually working...

@handjonathan, do you have any updates on .txt type catalogs not working within Content Catalog? Our firm was about to move on this, but it appears that certain features that windows explorer can handle aren't quite working yet..

In my experience, it takes a while for the 3D preview of the .rfa file to appear. For the first couple hours, I can only see the thumbnail.

The part about the UTF-8 format was brought up by a different user earlier in this thread.  I cannot guarantee that will be the fix or not for you.  @bryanBYS ???  You have any helpful hints for jstoddard?

You should have 4.0.73, but you also have to make sure you've installed the version 1.1.2.3 of the extension.  The only way to figure out which version of that you have is to go into Add/Remove programs and look to see which version it says you have there.

If none of this helps, I would definitely go the ticket route.  They are attempting to get to those ASAP.  I know they are trying to clear their logs before the holiday break!""

The UTF-8 formatting ~seemed~ to be my issue. I verified all of my type catalogs were updated/in this proper format & reuploaded them with their families (so they associate within Content Catalog) and it appeared to work correctly from there

@handjonathan, I don’t know if you ever got an answer to this. I was told you had to upload the family and text file at the same time to have the catalog work correctly. Uploading them separately breaks the connection.

im not sure if this has anything to do with the issue you’re experiencing

@handjonathan, I absolutely love the content catalog. It’s a fantastic tool, WHEN IT WORKS!

I did a workshop with my company today that turned out to be a disaster and an embarrassment. Half the users don’t see all the content, or in some cases no content.  To make things worse, the content that they were able to download was old content.

i would love to make this the company standard but there is no way I’m releasing this to my users until the content issues are fixed.

I must apologize for my previous rant. It appears the problems we were experiencing occur when I modify a family and try to reupload it. For some reason the system does not update the family correctly. If I save the modified family to my hard drive, delete the family in the content catalog and upload the new family it works as expected

i have not tested changing the family in 2025 to see if it causes any other issues

It's been 18 months since I made a post asking how this affects C3D since the marketing said it did and got....nothing. That's how Autodesk is going to be remembered. All marketing talk and no useful action.
