Editing Issue Thumbnail

When creating issues, sometimes, the automatic thumbnail photo that gets attached to the issue is not sufficient enough for what we are trying to capture. It would be nice if we could go into an existing issue and retake the thumbnail photo, in case another element is in the way or something of the sort.

Agreed. I had this same question from a design manager this week.

Particularly if the issue has not yet been resolved, but other elements around it have since been amended. We need to capture a new thumbnail to update to the current situation.

Hi @emonnin15 and @Chad-Smith

You can update the thumbnail!

It's not straight forward but you can!

What you need to do is first add a markup to the issue thumbnail and save it.

After adding the markup you have the option to retake the thumbnail!

The markups that you added to the thumbnail will disappear but you can update the thumbnail.

Hope it helps!

😮Thank you @andr3sant0s.

That is highly counterintuitive. Hope the devs take note of this and improve the discoverability of the Retake option.

Do we have any option where we can update the thumbnail from the Naviswork Issue tab?
because at this moment we can just add the screenshot

This would be very helpful, to be able to update the thumbnail in the Navisworks issues tab. I primarily work out of Navisworks, opposed to the ACC model viewer since the models I work with are so complex and don't always load in ACC.

To edit the thumbnail you actually need to move the little pin (not so intuitive):

Unfortunately if you try to select some element to hide you exit the "pin movement mode" so you can't actually update the view: if you need to hide individual items you need to hide them from the model browser

the "marking up and retaking the thumbnail" also seems to work only a few times. Some of my issues the thumbnails are not updating at all.

It's just removing the markup and regenerating the original thumbnail we created while publishing the issue. Also, please add the feature to add multiple thumbnails so that we can add various thumbnails from various angles and keep the best one as the main thumbnail.  @andr3sant0s and the Autodesk team.
