Docs vs BIM Collaborate

What are the differences between Autodesk Docs license ($500) and the BIM Collaborate ($705)?

I see several charts comparing BIM Collaborate vs BIM Collaborate Pro and their features. But I don't see one comparing Docs and BIM Collaborate.

As far as i can tell the only difference is you cannot set up or run clash detection?

Hi @curtisridenour

BIM Collaborate includes a Docs access, so with BIM Collaborate you get all the features included in Docs plus:

-Design Collaboration (this modules enables you to manage the information shared by different stakeholders, you no longer need to give permission to the folder of a specific discipline for the other stakeholders to access the information, the teams share their information and design changes by creating packages that other stakeholders consume directly to their folder)

-Model Coordination (I usually say that this is a mini Navisworks inside ACC, it will run automatic clash detection whenever a new version of a model is uploaded)

-Meetings and correspondence (this feature is included in the Design Collaboration)

-With Collaborate- or Collaborate Pro you can set a connection between Navisworks and ACC, you will see all the issues in Navisworks and you can create issues from clashes detected in Navisworks, for this you need a plug-in "Navisworks Coordination Issues".

Hope it helps!

So as i understand it, a user with just Autodesk Docs can look at a published 2D or 3D view from a Revit model. They can create issues on those 2D and 3D views and have them populate within the Revit models for the BIM Collaborate Pro users working in Revit?

Yes! That's right.

But only if we are talking about the view published from a Revit model and not the view that be saved with BIM Collaborate/Collaborate Pro. You can create views with BIM Collaborate/Collaborate Pro and save them to Docs (you can create a federated view), if you create issues on that view it will only be available on the view that is in Docs and not on the view that is in BIM Collaborate/Collaborate Pro.

If you create an issue on a published view in Docs it will conect with Collaborate/Collaborate Pro. Docs is the foundation for all other modules, everything that is made in Docs will appear in BIM Collaborate/Collaborate Pro/Build/Take-Off.

Glad I could help!

Here is a simple scheme that shows how everything connects in ACC!
