I was tasked by my company to build a tracking system using the new(ish) Asset tool on Builds for our product. We wanted to be able to track individual product from design, various stages of fabrication, delivery, and installation. I was pretty happy with the process that I had created using custom status set and delineating the various parts of the process among the stake holders (The design team would create the asset the same time they design the product, the first step of the fabrication process is where the QR code sticker would be applied, ect...). And I thought that I would a pretty straightforward and easy to learn process where no single individual would be doing a particularly heavy lift.
And the feedback I got was muted, with one exception. our DoO does not like the fact that workers would either have to use their personals device our need to be assign a tablet in order to make status updates; further, he did not like that the status update required selecting the new status (he would rather that the status update automatically whenever scanned...I think? He wasn't clear...(following up, I asked him and he isn't clear))
My questions here are thus: 1) Can third party scan guns work with ACC, specifically the Asset tool? 2) If so, is there a specific brand or type that works best? 3) Is there a way to tie the asset updates to a station or make them automatically sequential? 4) Is there a way to set this up so that not everyone using it needs an ACC account?
