TIP: Mobile upload from eMAIL

Hello Mobile members,

This tip is to show the flow for uploading a file you receive in eMAIL to your mobile device.  Mobile is actually an extension of your WEB HUB, so the simplest thing to do is just upload from your computer to the WEB Site.   But that is not always possible, and you may be in the field and someone sends you a drawing that you want to view.  This tip will help show the flow of uploading a file from eMAIL to A360 WEB using your mobile device and the mobile app.

Note that this example is using an iPhone 7 Plus and iOS 11.

Open your eMAIL and click on the attachment.

Note that you will see the icon for the mobile product. Click on it to start the process of uploading your file.

The first thing you want to do is select an existing project to upload your file to.

Once you select a project, then you want to select an existing folder, or create a new one. For this example, I'm going to create a new folder.

Once you click on "New Folder" you will be prompted to create a folder name.

Once you create the folder, click on the "Save Here" button.

This starts the upload to the new folder.  Note that the file is then uploaded to your HUB and goes through what we call translation so that it can be viewed in both the WEB site and the mobile app.  You will see a circling icon to the left of the file name letting you know it is being uploaded.   Again the file also goes through translation for viewing, so this can take a little time. Be sure to leave this open during this process.

Now click on the file and it will open up for viewing.

Now you can view the file.

Note that there may be some limitations with mobile devices if you try to do this with very large files. For example a 200MB Revit file will probably not upload from mobile.  In these cases, you want to do the upload from  your computer.

Hope this tip is helpful and have a great day.
