I am happy to announce that today we will be releasing a Beta version of the Markup feature - this has been a highly requested feature and is one more step towards building a full-fledged suite of design review tools that will help you deliver your projects faster and more efficiently.
I've attached some videos below about how this feature works. You will find a new "Comment and Markup Utilities" action in the Viewer toolbar that allows you to attach snapshot, pin, object comments and the new Markup option. We've added some coach marks to help users quickly locate this new feature.
Upon choosing the Markup option from the toolbar, you will enter Markup mode which allows you to add FreeHand, Text, Arrow and Rectangle annotations to your 3D or 2D design files. Once you are done simply Submit the Markup and then that Markup will appear as Comment in the Comments panel on the right hand side.
At this point you can @mention a reviewer from the comments panel and send them a quick message that the design is ready for review or add a more detailed explanation about the markup that you just submitted.
A Reviewer can click on a Markup comment which will load the design in the viewer with the markup overlaid on top. They can then reply back on that comment thread with recommended changes or acceptance. This review conversation history will always be available to you as a reference via the comments panel.
This is a Beta feature (we have some more planned enhancements coming out shortly) and we are very excited to get this feature into your hands so take it for a spin and let us know how it works for you. Our goal is to build powerful design review tools in A360 that will make you more productive and help you build awesome products with high quality.
Happy Thanksgiving !!
Yay, finally.
My comments:
What I do like about it is that it is simple. I think the mistake many other markup programs like PDF viewers/editors make is to make it too unnecessarily complex. Marking up is a simple process, and should remain simple. I hope you don't fall into that same trap.
Thanks for your detailed feeedback Chad, we will definitely consider all these improvements in an upcoming release.
Is this currently functioning with models posted on A360? And I agree, it would be lovely to include markups back into the model.

Yup, I see the features and am using the new UI. However, when I tested it, it wasn't working when I tried making markups with my mouse. I did notice that I CAN make markups when using my touch screen, but cannot with my touch pad. Other features work fine. Interesting!

Yes, I have a touch screen laptop, and it works when I use my finger on the screen.

Thanks for adding this feature. One drawback - when we have multiple sheets in a folder with multiple markups, we need to be able to open any sheet and click on a markup on that sheet to edit it. It is impossible to go thru all the comments looking for a single markup on a random sheet in the set.
Hi Sue,
Thanks for the feedback here, a great idea indeed.
I'm wondering if you'd also please re-post this over into our A360 Ideas Board linked here, as well flush out a bit of how you'd like to see it work from our end to allow you to quickly find the right markup that you're searching for in your sheet sets.
This will then allow others to also join in on the conversation and add their comments and votes to.
This is the best way to get the attention of our development team.
Hi,
I'd like to understand your request a little better. You have multiple folders in your project and within each folder you may have multiple sheets, some of which have markups. Are you suggesting that you need a better way to find the sheet & the markups from the project data page instead of the comments panel ? Are you using Sheets in Revit or AutoCAD or some other file format ?
It would help if you can elaborate a bit more on your current workflow and what you are looking to achieve.
thanks.
We are a government organization that reviews and permits documents for construction. We use BIM technology for our review as we deal with very large projects. We are currently using Autodesk design review to markup the 2d sheets (dwf files) and are very happy with it. We use Navisworks to review the 3d model. Our customers (Architects and Engineers) import our markups directly to their Revit model to make the necessary changes. We would like to see all the functionalities of ADR brought in to A360 so we can work collaboratively in the cloud instead of sharing files like we currently do. First and foremost, we would like to have the ability to click on a markup on any sheet and delete it vs. going through hundreds of comments in the comment panel to figure out which one contains the markup that needs to be edited. Next, we need to have the ability to print from A360. Adding these 2 features will most certainly make A360 more appealing to ADR users.
Excellent, thank you so much for the details. We are working towards bringing all the functionality of ADR into A360 so you will see continuous improvement in the design review space for A360. I now understand what you mean by being able to click on a markup and delete versus having to navigate through all the sheets, the Markups list that ADR enables you to do that.
The Print feature is also something that has been highly requested by customers and something that we will be releasing in Q3 so stay tuned for a product update on that.
thanks.
Hello,
I pulled an AutoCAD file into A360 Viewer (Dwg file) and when I go to the Sheets to mark them up, the Markup tool does not show on the toolbar. The only option is the measuring tool. Is there a reason for this? Dwg files with Sheets is the only type of CAD files we use.
Thanks

Hello,
Yes these are CAD files, I uploaded a .dwg file into A360 Viewer. We need our field crew to be able to mark up these sheets,
as well as managers in the reviewing process.
Thanks!
Hi Brandi,
Thanks for the update, the image does not show up if you reply from eMAIL.Can you post the image from the forum.
Thanks in advance for doing this.

Sorry about that. I attached the screenshot to this reply.
