what's the difference between lighting analysis and illuminance rendering?

I have done a lighting analysis inside the Revit with the plug-in and an illuminance rendering in cloud, but the result are not the same.  I set the the exact time, date, unit and range for both of them.

Light analysis is based on a plane, like ground plan or eye plane , and illuminance rendering is used to analysis the illuminance of the model surface. Hope this is helpful.

Hi @mhsaki,

Are you comparing the Insight 360 Lighting Analysis plugin, and the Render in the Cloud Illuminance renderings?

Both produce illuminance results. The Insight 360 plugin produces those results as a 2D analysis plane within Revit, and the Render in the Cloud process produces results as a 3D perspective view accessible in the Render Gallery.

However, both processes use the same engine, so results should be comparable. Check these things to make sure you are keeping settings consistent.

1. Make sure the date, time, and irradiance values are the same for both.

2. Make sure the settings in your Rendering Settings for your 3D view are consistent as well (for example, make sure you don't have electric lights on for one simulation, and off for another).

Best,
Stephanie
