Online Rendering Revit 2017

Hi,

I have recently upgraded Revit 2016 to Revit 2017 and the models that I could easily render through online rendering do not work under 2017.
The moment I accept the online rendering settings under 'Render in Cloud' (irrespective of the type of resolution) Revit crashes and leaves the following message:

 Revit2017_error_300117.jpg

I have tried three different models, ranging from complicated to a simple model with just two spaces, on Revit 2016 & Revit 2017 on the same machine. All three models presented results from online rendering in Revit 2016 but none from Revit 2017.

Any possible reason??

Hi @qayyum2,

Could you install a web debug tool to debug this problem?

Steps:

1. install fiddler from here: http://www.telerik.com/fiddler

2. launch fiddler and then launch Revit 2017

3. open a project file in Revit 2017 and then try cloud rendering

4. once the error dialog pop, go to fiddler File--> save --> all sessions

5. send the saved file to yuejuan.dong@autodesk.com

Thanks,
Sally Dong

Hi Sally,

Followed your steps to install, run and save file from debug tool...

Did you receive file sent from 'Fiddler' sent to yuejuan.dong@autodesk.com?

If yes, did you find any issues with the system or program installation?

Regards,

Hi SallyDong2005,

See attached file 'Error_060217' containing information that might help you shed some light & possibly find a solution for the situation I am in.

It is interesting to note that on the same machine, with the same model under the same user name I have no problem doing the online rendering in Revit 2016.

Thanks for your support.

Hi @qayyum2,

We cannot get the https traffic from your attainment, Please enable Fiddler to decrypt https traffic, and then the log file could be more useful.

Steps:

  1. Launch Fiddler and go to Tools -->  Telerik Fiddler Options --> Https tab --> check the option Decrypt https traffic
  2. Launch Revit, and try cloud rendering.
  3. Once the error dialog pops, go to fiddler File --> Save --> all sessions and then send the file to me.

Thanks,
Sally Dong

Hi Sally,

The issue I raised a few weeks ago regarding Revit 2017 crashing on sending a model of any size, shape or complexity for online rendering.

I believe that I have found a fix for the problem and successfully tried/sent a number of models to Rendering360 before typing this message.

The culprit was NBS plug-in for Revit 2017 by nbs.com. I uninstalled the plug-in, restarted the computer and Revit 2017 stopped crashing immediately after making contact with Rendering360 site.

Right from the start of this issue I believed that there was something not right between Revit 2017 & the plug-ins that I added on to the software. I did get rid of most of the add-ons but did not pay attention to the NBS plug-in till today.

It is interesting to note that the same plug-in works fine with Revit 2015 & Revit 2016 on my machine. I m not sure why this particular plug-in does not go with Revit 2017, but I would love to find out whether there is something wrong with the plug-in or it was not installed properly, or it had conflict with something else on my computer.

Has anyone else complained of a similar mismatch between Revit 2017 & NBS or any other plug-in?

I really want to thank you & everyone at Autodesk help located in Singapore, in particular Yuri Kim, who spent almost an hour with me using remote access to try to find a solution. Although that session did not eventuate in identifying the problem, but it definitely showed me a number of possible ways to look at the problem.

One more time thanks for your help, support and such a high level of customer service.

Best Regards,

Farhat Qayyum Naz

Hi Sally,

NBS have recently become aware of this thread. We have tested the NBS plugin with Autodesk Revit 2017 and we can successfully render in the cloud.

We wonder if it could be an installation issue and hope you will continue to use the NBS plug-in. You can download the latest version of the NBS plugin from the Autodesk App Store or https://www.nationalbimlibrary.com/.

If you have any further issues with the NBS Plug-in please get in touch with our support team via support@thenbs.com.

Thanks,

David Morris
