How can I improve my Rendering wait time?

Rendering and queue wait times can be improved in a number of ways:

Choose the right render settings for your need

You can improve rendering time by adjusting your job quality and rendering size:

  • All renderings under 1 mega pixel at standard quality are free. This type of rendering is excellent for iterating on your design ideas. Jobs with these render settings usually take 10 minutes or less.
  • Renderings of 2 to 8 mega pixels are excellent for internal design reviews and situations that require higher quality to communicate your design intent. In some cases jobs with these render settings can take longer depending on server loads.
  • Save rendering set above 8 mega pixels for situations requiring the finest quality. Examples may include: competition submissions, important client reviews and print presentations. In some cases, jobs with these render settings can take longer depending on server loads.
  • Solar and illumance studies are more intensive and take longer to render. You can often reduce your wait time by reducing the number of frames in your study.

Confirm you have enough cloud credits to complete your job

  • Some users may have an active Autodesk Subscription contract and an Education entitlement using the same email address.  In this situation, when a user runs out of cloud credits, their rendering is automatically sent to the Education queue. Depending on server load, wait times can be several hours.
  • If you experience longer than expected wait times, confirm you have enough cloud credits.  Log into Autodesk Accountsor Subscription Center, check your cloud credit balance and if necessary purchase additional cloud credits.

For more information consult the FAQ for Rendering cloud credits

Don’t cancel and resubmit your job

  • If you submit a rendering job, cancel it and then resubmit, you are automatically sent to the end of the rendering queue.

In rare cases, server load may be at capacity when you choose to render. If the wait time indicated in the estimated render settings dialog is long, try again later.

What can students do to improve rendering wait time?

As a student you have unlimited cloud credits to render, but your jobs are queued differently.  Depending on the size of your job and server load at the time you submit, you may experience extended wait times.

Many student jobs are submitted at the highest quality. This can increase wait times for all students during peak periods. One way you can speed things up is to render at a smaller size. See above for more info on choosing the right render setting for your needs.

The load from student jobs increases significantly toward semester end, so plan ahead if you need to render at the highest quality.
